COMMITTEES |
ADVOCACY & PUBLIC POLICYThe Committee shall identify political issues influencing professional school counseling and the Association; develop an advocacy plan to affect the above-mentioned issues for board approval; implement the advocacy plan in accordance with NYSSCA’s Governance Policy Procedures; and educate stakeholders, politicians, members and other practicing school counselors on above-mentioned issues and methods for affecting those issues. | MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & RECOGNITIONThis committee is responsible for developing and implementing a plan to promote the benefits of membership and strengthen member engagement. The committee shall review member benefits and dues, maintain NYSSCA’s membership roster, communicate with members regarding their membership status, and develop and implement a plan to recruit new members. This committee shall be responsible for coordinating NYSSCA’s annual awards ceremony, RAMP Scholarships, and coordinating the Graduate Student Award Program. |
PUBLIC RELATIONS & MARKETINGThis committee is responsible for communicating with our members, other professional associations, local school counseling associations, and other associations with common stakeholders and interests through NYSSCA’s weekly newsletter, the EDGE, YouTube channel, Community and social media posts. | PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & PUBLICATIONSThe Professional Development Committee is responsible for identifying timely topics that reflect current needs, trends, and best practices in school counseling by developing, curating, and disseminating high-quality content that advances the professional growth of school counselors across New York State that can be used in their daily practice. |
