The Future of Work is Here;-Are Your Students Ready?

There is no doubt that as we move forward with the 2020-21 school year, none of us knows what the future will bring. Since the beginning of the pandemic, schools have been challenged to push themselves into the future of online learning. Things are not only changing day by day, but hour by hour, which means that everyone has had to think about their work differently. Aside from the changes we’re facing because of Covid-19, innovations like Artificial Intelligence, co-bots and drones have been changing workforce needs and transforming industries. In order to meet the challenges of the future, worker training, skill development and career pathways need to transform too. Join the New York State Department of Labor’s Future of Work team to learn more about the changing world of work and how the state, educators and the business community can collaborate to ensure that the students of today are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

In many cases, school counselors are the linchpin of a student’s education team, helping kids determine their future career path, sometimes in jobs that don’t even exist yet. However, information about what is happening with business growth and workforce development may never trickle down to them. The Future of Work Team sees school counselors as vital partners in reaching students to make sure they know about the about the tremendous and ever-changing opportunities that await them!
